Our ferritin test includes a home blood test kit that lets you check your ferritin levels at home and identify whether you might be iron deficient or even at risk of anaemia.
Ferritin is the main form by which iron is stored in the body. A ferritin blood test is therefore the best marker of iron deficiency. If your iron levels are low or high, ferritin will be the first indicator. Being deficient in iron can lead to feelings of weakness, lethargy and fatigue. Ferritin is therefore a good entry level anaemia test.
As well as monitoring iron deficiency, our ferritin check can also be used to identify and monitor iron overload (Haemochromatosis), a disorder which causes too much iron to be absorbed from the diet. Iron overload can also cause fatigue, but in addition can cause abdominal pain, inflammation of the liver and joint pain. Iron overload is an inherited condition, which usually begins to exhibit symptoms in those aged between 30 and 60.
Our home ferritin test makes private ferritin tests affordable and simple. Simply collect your sample at home and send to one of our UKAS accredited UK labs. Out of range results will be reviewed by one of our registered healthcare professionals and your results report will be made available through your own personal online dashboard. Here you can track changes over time and gain information and tips on how to improve.
